Shorts in Shorts Film Festival

UPDATE: Submissions open on 20th of February, 2025

The festival will run its course over the two sunny weekend days in June 2025 hosted by the spacious cinema space at Moving Arts Centre Amsterdam. On June 28th the two-day event will kick off with opening drinks and a performance, which will be concluded with celebratory borrel. Following a start Saturday will feature 5 short film categories and Q&A sessions from the makers creating a welcoming ground for the residents of NDSM community and beyond to discuss how contained physical spaces mirror the larger societal imperfections or behavioural patterns of distinct communities. In the given breaks between the performances the audience will be given time to reflect on the watched films in and out of the building situated on the IJ river offering an overlook on the eye warming sunsets.

The curated subprograms of the festival invite the audience to reflect the individual and collective experience through the exploration of one’s self, experimental footage and navigating a new environment that is shaped by unexpected circumstances. These various experiences are held together by the carefully curated subprograms – “Dali and Magical Realism”, “The Good, The Bad and the Artificial”, “Moments in Liminality” and others - each of which takes up a unique interpretation of their name. As we are navigating through these stories of connection and discovery, we hope to foster a deeper understanding of ourselves and our shared humanity.

A film about a small town is never just about the town; it’s about the universe seen through its eyes. – John Sayles
